Attorney General's Office seeks full restitution and more

Today a Florida company and its president are found guilty of violating the state's Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act by sending out mass mailings which appeared to be invoices.

Hundreds of companies worldwide, including the Crocs shoe company, Sony Entertainment and the estate of Astrid Lundgren, made payments to Federated Institute for Patent and Trademark Registry, mistakenly believing the invoices were associated with their trademark registrations or patents from legitimate government agencies.

The Attorney General's Office is seeking full restitution for all victims, monetary penalties and an order for the repatriation of the defendants' assets from foreign bank accounts.
